7 Kitchen tips to always remember

Hi Foodies,

Today I will be sharing some kitchen tips with you all. I hope all of you are beating the heat with the colourful buttermilk recipe which I had shared. I'm glad that so many of you tried it out too!

Whether you're a beginner or a professional, everyone who steps into the kitchen needs a refresher on the basics sometimes. We all learn new things with time. So let's take a look at 7 kitchen tips, you must always remember.

7 kitchen tips are here to keep in mind while cooking

1. Always read the complete recipe
Read the recipe all through the way, before you start. And by read, I don't mean skimming through the pages. Read it properly from start to finish, so that you know exactly what ingredients, utensils and how much time is required.

2. Cut onions without tears
We've all cried while cutting onions and this happens because of the gas they release. To prevent this, freeze the onions for 15-20 minutes after peeling them. You can alternatively soak onions into cold water and then slice them.

3. Peel tomatoes with ease
Remove the stem and cut in the form of X on the bottom. Then simmer in a pot of hot water for 15-30 seconds. After that, place the tomatoes in a bowl of ice water for 5 minutes. You can then easily peel the skin with your hands.

4. Get rid of garlic odour
A lot of you might notice that after finely chopping garlic, your hands start smelling of them. So, after handling garlic, rub your fingers on stainless steel, to get away with its odour!

5. Storing spices
Keep your spices away from sources of heat like gas stove or lights. Herbs or spices can lose their flavour when exposed to humidity and heat.

6. Test the temperature of oil
Always test the oil in your pan, before adding all the ingredients. Throw a small piece of cumin in and make sure it sizzles, before adding the rest. This step ensures that the oil is ready for cooking.

7. Provide support for your cutting board
Put a damp paper towel under your cutting board. This prevents it from swiveling around, while you're trying to use it. This will ease the process of chopping, as the board remains steady.

I hope these 7 kitchen tips were helpful. Also, always remember to clean the countertop, once you're done. It is a good habit to follow and will save you time, when you enter back into the kitchen. These basic tips were made keeping in mind to make your every kitchen trip a successful one.😉
